Ivan's Wainwright Experience

As I approach my 50th birthday (May 2018) I thought I should look at what I wanted to achieve over the next few years.

I've loved going to the Lake District in Northern England for years but had tended to look at the fells from the ground up and think - no chance would I be able to get up there. 

So the challenge became clear in my mind.  I had to start climbing the fells and what better starting point could I have than the Wainwright 214 !

So that was it.  Having watched Julia Bradbury heading up the fells in her brilliant series of Wainwright Walks I decided to start tackling them for myself.

This blog will capture the highs and lows of my efforts.  Will I ever make it to the top of Scafell Pike?  Never mind that - will I make it up to the top of Castle Crag !
